Contract: Network Engineer / Architect (Data / Voice)

Salary: £450 per day

We have a very exciting opportunity for Network Engineer / Architect

  • Acts as an escalation point for network-related customer issues within data center environment.
  • Planning of implementation activities prior to the installation of network hardware
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and HP networking gear in large WAN and LAN environments
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Experience with creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting IPSec based VPN networks.
  • Experience with deploying and troubleshooting QoS in a large WAN environment
  • Experience with Spanning Tree, VLANs, and ACLs
  • Cisco Nexus configuration and support
  • Knowledge and support of Cisco wireless technologies
  • Cisco, Juniper, or other vendor Firewall experience
  •  Knowledge of SIP and VoIP in a converged voice/data network
  • Experience with use of Microsoft SharePoint, Visio, Word, and Excel for document and data management
  • Knowledge of Solarwinds Orion monitoring and configuration applications
  • Data network cabling knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially when communicating with internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in handling multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busy, fast paced and demanding environment
  • Fast learner - able to grasp concepts from on-the-job training
  • Teamwork and internal customer skills

 Responsibilities:  

  • Utilize knowledge and experience with Cisco Nexus and Cisco FiberChannel architectures to design and implement data center solutions
  • Manage multiple data center related projects concurrently, providing timely completion of tasks and ensuring the data center is running efficiently and effectively
  • Coordinate environment usage for development and testing environments
  • Schedule switch OS/software patches, upgrades and down times for production
  • Participate in conference calls on technical issues to provide status of open opportunities and resource requirements to management
  • Supports operations and maintenance tasks for customer projects
  • Maintains critical technical architecture documents and verifies all information is up to date
