Integration Architect / Middleware Integration Architect

Our financial services client has a requirement for an Intergation Architect / Middleware on a permanent basis based in High Wycombe.


The Middleware Integration Architect participates as part of each Information Technology project for the delivery of technology solutions to the business.  It’s the responsibility of the middleware architecture of the solution as a shared service. Provides the technical expertise for the project’s design and architecture, one that is aligned with the enterprise architectural view of the future state of IT. Supplies the middleware architecture across the diverse elements of the business and technology environment, as a shared IT asset. Interacts with the business solutions and technology architecture towers to support the consistency of architecture solutions.


Main Responsibilities

  • Serves as technical expert in Middleware Solution Architecture.

  • Experienced in delivering IT solutions; develops the technical strategy for the project and acts as SME to program/project teams in the plan, design, and delivery of solutions.

  • Aligns project architecture to pragmatic and strategic views for the product.

  • Advises teams of standard requirements, security standards, methodology and processes.

  • Assists the project team in estimating the architecture design effort and in developing/ reviewing/ approving architecture designs.

  • Advises project teams on the application of standards/methodology practices to the project.

  • Drives short & long term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio for key business segments.

  • Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy.

  • Communicates and validates program architecture with IO architecture team, program / project manager, executive level stakeholders.

  • Uses a broad and deep understanding of technical concepts in multiple specialized fields to develop solutions to problems and design issues.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • May manage relationships with suppliers/vendors



  • Proven solutions architecture and middleware experience

  • Skilled in service oriented modelling and architecture

  • Ability to interact with and provide architectural design guidance to project teams made up of employee and/or supplier resources

  • Knowledge of the software development process and how it fits within the IT architecture and infrastructure

  • Knowledge of enterprise platforms, application containers, messaging and service oriented models, as well as knowledge of key business functions and processes

  • Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs

  • Knowledge of standards in IT architecture and infrastructure

  • Ability to develop guidelines and standards

  • Understanding of Information Security Policy and Procedures how they fit within the IT architecture and
