Contract: Environment Manager, Devops Environment

Exciting opportunity for an Environment Manager to join a Professional Services organisation based in the city for a contract assignment.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the environments for the global development teams:

    • Managing demand from the multiple workstreams to ensure all component development and testing can be completed in the team’s required timeframes and capacity is sufficient

    • Creation and refresh of environments as required, working with our third party IT teams to acquire the servers

    • Monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving issues in the environments to minimise disruption to the software delivery teams

  • Managing the deployment of code increments within the global environments:

    • Defining, implementing and enforcing a change control process

    • Overseeing deployment and configuration of application packages into the environments

    • Troubleshooting any issues with the deployment and working hands on with packaging and development resources to resolve

    • Designing the detailed deployment approach and working with packaging team to document and test the completed package before shipping

  • Working with the release manager, ensure that the quality of releases (including documentation and testing sign off) is high before sending out to hosting teams around the world

  • Work with the Implementation and Support teams to help the hosting teams at our regional data centres during upgrades or incidents as required

  • Provide support to hosting teams in case of issues during implementation windows

  • Track and report on operational status, configuration and metrics across all environments

  • Identify and manage risks and issues associated with the environments

  • Work collaboratively with all team member including 3rd party vendor resources as required.

  • Release, configuration (including desired state) and change management experience

  • Experience line managing and mentoring junior environments / deployment staff

  • Administration and deployment of a range of modern application technologies: Microsoft (e.g. Windows Server, IIS, .net and SQL Server), web (e.g. HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular JS, etc) as well as data analytics products and process including extract/transform/load, data management and analytics tools (particularly Qlikview)

  • Experience with authentication systems and integration including Auth0, Siteminder and ADFS

  • Capable of describing technical issues, solutions, risks and mitigations in a way that non-technical business users can understand

  • Experience working with Agile development lifecycle and ITIL-based service management

  • Confident approach, self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and attention to detail.

  • Flexible and team focused working style within a multi-skilled team.
