Permanent: Test Analyst

Purpose of role 

Work with the project, development and infrastructure teams to test software and systems.  As such this role requires experience with hands-on Testing, Development and Test Management. You will be expected to partake in all of these areas in the Testing environment.  Automation and scripting is desirable but not a must. 

Primary responsibilities 

  • Prepare test plans, test scripts and test data.
  • To conduct software testing in an appropriate, efficient and methodological manner to maximize the robustness of software and system releases.
  • To understand functional requirements and software design so as to target tests scenarios towards the most effective tests.
  • To produce clear, structured and useful documentation.
  • Work under guidance to prioritize tests and test strategy appropriately.
  • Communicate with the teams in order to facilitate development of stable and robust software. 

Secondary responsibilities 

  • Gain greater understanding of software and applications used by the team.
  • Engage with users and project managers to facilitate the aspects of the development lifecycle that are related to testing and sign-off. 

Skills and experience 

  • Manual software and system testing experience (good knowledge)
  • Automation testing experience (desirable)
  • Experience of testing user interfaces
  • SQL (exposure)
  • Software development (exposure)
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • An ability to understand functional requirements, expressed both technically and from a user’s perspective.
  • An ability to analyse and creatively solve unfamiliar technical problems and to use analysis and deduction to isolate key aspects for testing of specific applications
  • A willingness to follow instructions and guidance from more senior software developers
  • A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work
  • Careful attention to detail
