Contract: BI & Data Analytics Project Manager

Exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with experience of managing BI & Data Analytics projects to join a Professional Services client based in the city. The right candidate will have an IT projects management skill set but with particular skills around planning, business engagement, analysis, work prioritisation, and communication.  Good knowledge of Agile software development lifecycle and Business Intelligence projects would be advantageous in this role. In addition to this the ideal candidate will have an understanding and experience of data analytics application development, either in Qlikview, Cognos, Business Objects etc. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the team delivers on time, to the required quality and with the appropriate checkpoints and documentation in place
  • Working on complex and highly visible projects involving multiple stakeholders across the business.
  • Working with the Business analysts, developers, data teams and other resources to solve business problems and manage a plan of activities to defined time and quality criteria.
  • Responsible for reporting progress to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for planning activities and staff on specific projects of work and able to report on these activities similarly.
  • To manage risks and issues on the project and escalate where needed.
  • Is able to work in a collaborative manner with all team member including 3rd party vendor resources.
  • To help ensure that the project teams retain a focus on quality, innovation and usability of the solution being developed.
  • Develops and distributes internal project communications
  • Work with Programme Manager and other Project Managers to develop a standard lifecycle approach, deliverables and reporting 

Skills & Experience:

  • Managing projects of work and teams of between 5 and 10 people
  • Agile project management methodologies
  • Expert in creating, maintaining and gaining buy in for schedules of activities and project plans
  • Good understanding of forecasting, both of activities, staff and costs
  • Experience of data analytics application development in relevant technologies such as from Qlikview, Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos , Microstrategy, etc
  • Experience of data extract / transform / load approaches and tools
  • Understanding of Microsoft and web stack technologies e.g. .net, SQL, HTML5, JavaScript, etc
  • Capable of describing technical issues, solutions, risks and mitigations in a way that non-technical business users can understand
  • Confident approach, self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and team focused working style within a multi-skilled team.
  • Understanding of accounting and/or auditing concepts would be highly advantageous.
