An experienced, talented and preferably certified Test Manager is required to join our existing software development team. The Test Manager will be responsible for shaping and managing the testing activity within a development team that is transitioning to Agile-driven development. The successful Test Manager will be responsible for defining the overall testing strategy and leading the test team. 

The Test Manager must be driven by quality and professionalism and have a broad understanding of testing principles, methods and tools with experience gained ideally in an Agile environment to help drive the transition to Agile. 


  • Test and regression test all software in accordance with the Departmental standards and procedures
  • Work with other project stakeholders to identify correct and practical solutions
  • Design and write test plans to ensure business requirements are implemented
  • Review requirements and design documents for validity and testability
  • Document all defects in accordance with Departmental process
  • Analyse the impact of software changes to identify risks and prioritise regression testing
  • Plan, design and execute test scenarios in compliance with the test strategy
  • Identify and define suitable test data to support the execution of test scenario
  • Identify and log system defects and assist the development team with diagnosis
  • Track and re-test defects
  • Maintain test coverage and progress metrics
  • Review release notes and schedule releases for testing
  • Trouble shoot issues to identify solutions and possible workarounds 

Skills required:

  • Background leading, managing or mentoring Quality Assurance Analysts throughout the full development lifecycle
  • Experience of managing software quality in an Agile environment, and reporting on software quality to stakeholders. 
  • Experience of Unit testing frameworks (experience with automated test tools would be advantageous, especially Selenium)
  • Experience in using software tool(s) (preferably JIRA) to manage and track development tasks
  • Experience and knowledge of the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong communication skills; team work and interpersonal skills; analytical, problem-solving and organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Broad knowledge of business processes and analysis function 

Highly Desirable: 

  • ISEB or ISTQB qualifications would be advantageous
  • Experience of the Insurance industry (especially Motor Claims) would be beneficial
  • Good technical knowledge with SQL experience, preferably with experience gained in a Java development environment
