Contract: Data Centre Operations Team Lead

Exciting opportunity for a Data Centre Operations Team Lead to join a Professional Services organisation based in the city for a contract assignment. Although not a hands-on role, the candidate must have a data centre operations background with experience and a good understanding of how the following technologies impact on the wider infrastructure.  

  • VMware hosts / servers and physical HP servers
  • Windows Server Operating System/Active Directory

In addition, a good understanding of technologies in a number of the following areas:

  • Networking (firewalls, routers, switches)
  • SAN Storage (EMC / VMAX and Netapp)
  • Backup Technologies (Netbackup, snapshot, cloning)

This role will be responsible for the management of a technical team of individuals who work an 8 hour shift pattern to cover core business hours together with an element of out of hours on call support and application deployments. Whilst there isn’t a requirement for the team lead to work a shift pattern they will need to ensure that they are available out of hours where this is required to manage any incidents or escalation.

Skills Required:

The Team Lead will be customer / delivery focused with experience, in an IT Service Delivery environment and will ideally demonstrate:

  • Experience of managing and leading a technical team(s).
  • Managing work flow, business requests and rotas.
  • Be comfortable in developing and maintaining processes and procedures as required.
  • The ability to understand the potential service impact of technical infrastructure changes.
  • Customer focused with good communication skills.
  •  Commercial and financial acumen.
